Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams

Re-read my trilogy (in five parts...) in anticipation of the film which will be released this week (yay!). The first four I must have bought even before I moved to the UK in 1991, probably during one of the trips with my high school music band in 1989, as they cost just 2.99 each. Whohoo, that was a while ago. I remember that I thought they were great fun and I still think so. I do think however that a lot of the 'local flavour' must have been lost on me before but I really enjoy it now. Details about West London, tea, cricket etc. What I really enjoy is the quirkyness of the humour, the great sense for the absurd.

Note added later: the film was a REAL disappointment. Some funny moment (Marvin was good with Alan Rickman's voice) but why wasn't it FUNNIER? A downer. I am glad however that it inspired me to read the books again.
